“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”​  Galatians 6:9, 10

Dear Friends,

The above scripture passage (please read, mark and ponder) was written to encourage us.  It contains a conditional promise: “at the proper time we will reap a harvest if​ we do not give up.” To many of us it seems odd that people don’t flock to embrace faith in Jesus when we find so much grace, strength, joy, purpose and hope in doing so.  There are, of course, reasons for this (see Ephesians 6:12) and we ourselves are sometimes part of the problem. Our job is to be humbly watchful about that and then ‘keep on keepin’ on’. We can plant and water the seeds of faith, but only God “makes things grow” (1 Cor. 3:7).

That being said, this little annual report is essentially a record of 3 country churches doing their best to “do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” We have invested time, energy and resources into ‘doing good’ locally and globally. This is true not only of our various mission endeavours but also of such mundane things as paying a minister and heating a church. By maintaining a church presence in our communities we bless them and hold forth the light of the gospel. We also encourage and build one another up in faith and love. Jesus tells us, “You are the light of the world”. (Matthew 5:14)

One of the most essential contributions to our community is our prayer list. In Ingoldsby, Lochlin and Haliburton we continue to pray for those in need. This will not seem significant to the unbelievers of our world, but in God’s sight it is a precious sign of faith and love. It is actually surprising how many non-churched appreciate our prayers and how often we see marvelous, even miraculous, answers.

On a personal note it was a tough year in some ways. I was sick with a flu for a month or so in the winter. Lynne had both her knees replaced and was off work several weeks. Our new grandson Henry was born with a heart defect. In the midst of all this you were praying and supporting us.  We are most appreciative. Lynne’s absence while recuperating makes me all the more thankful for what she does. Her dedication, wisdom, patience and love keep this train on the rails.

May our Saviour Christ bless, guard and direct us through 2020!
