Upcoming Events and Notices

March 29 to April 10: Third Annual Stations of the Cross Tour. A drive-by tour of our beautiful region and art installations representing the Stations of the Cross, providing an opportunity to reflect and prepare our hearts for Lent and Easter. One of our own, Janis Cox of Haliburton UC, has an art installation on the tour (Eagle Lake location). Friday, April 7: Good Friday Cantata – “The Offer Still Stands”. The two performances are at 9:30 a.m. at Highland Hills United Church in Minden and 11:15 a.m. at Haliburton UC and online. Presented by members of the HHUC and HUC choirs under the direction of Melissa Stephens.

Sunday, April 9: Easter Communion services at 8:45 a.m. at Ingoldsby UC, 10:00 a.m. at Lochlin UC and 11:15 a.m. at Haliburton UC and online. Those participating online are invited to join in Communion by having bread and juice or wine on hand.

Haliburton United Church Treasurer Needed: Have a computer? Love numbers? Want to work from home on your own schedule 3-4 hours per week? Know someone who does? The Haliburton UC treasurer position may be the answer. The current treasuer is retiring after many years of service and will be happy to train the new person. Software and compensation will also be provided. For more information, contact the church office at 705-457-1891.

Current Events and Notices

Monthly mission for March for Haliburton UC: Pregnancy Care and Family Support Centre. For details and to learn how to donate, visit the Monthly Missions page on the HUC website.

Sundays: Regular services at all churches and online via livestream on YouTube at 11:15 a.m.

Ecumenical Bible Study: The group meets Tuesdays at 7 p.m. via Zoom, facilitated by Jean Schlicklin Tyler. This new year in the ordinary time brings the Gospel of Mark for the Sunday readings. The Ignatius 5 step discernment process will be used as a method of prayer for the study. Contact Jean for the Zoom link by email or at 705-457-2214.

Women to Women Bible Study: This study is held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Zoom. Participants study the Word using a simple study method, pray and share their lives and concerns. New participants are welcome, whether on or off web camera or by phone, even just to listen in. Minds in Motion: Tuesdays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Haliburton UC until April 25. An Alzheimer’s Society program designed to provide physical activity and mental and social stimulation. $30/couple for 8 weeks. Call Jennifer at 705-748-5131 x225.

Sunday School: Regular lessons are currently unavailable. A selection of previous lessons and interactive materials is available for download on the Sunday School page for use at home to encourage kids in their faith.
