“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Jesus, 2 Corinthians 12:9
Dear Friends,
2024 is a year I won’t soon forget. Notably, the closing of the Ingoldsby church has brought significant changes to my life and work. Since I’m not going to Ingoldsby Sunday mornings, I sleep in an extra half hour! On the other hand, I don’t get to test out my message before Lochlin. We now have a singalong at Lochlin for about half an hour before the service, where I get to ‘jam’ with Doris on piano and Wanda on the harmonicas. This is great fun for us and a marvelous way to worship.
I’m very happy that regular Ingoldsby attenders have without exception chosen to worship with Haliburton and/or Lochlin. This is actually rare in the history of church closings. You have brought joy and encouragement to both congregations by your participation.
A special thanks goes to Lisa Harrison for years of handling our websites and other communication needs. She is retiring from this due to health concerns. We’re looking for a person or persons to take this on. That might be you!
We also have a debt of gratitude to Paul and Nancy Cornish, who have served in many capacities over many years, but have transitioned to worshiping in Peterborough where they now live. Our love and prayers are with you!
We started up Sunday School in Haliburton again this past year! It happens the first Sunday of the month at 9 a.m. A big thanks to Georgia Shank for this initiative.
I’m in trouble for mentioning a few names because so many of you make this pastoral charge work through doing your part. Thanks to everyone who helped with this report – especially to Lynne Bertrand who makes it happen and keeps me on course all the year through. Thank you all for your support, efforts and prayers!
The biggest challenge in 2024 for Peggy and I was her cancer diagnosis. Many of you have been through this trial and you understand what’s involved. Again, a huge thank you to so many for your patience, encouragement and prayers. Our God supplies us with strength in our weakness.
Our mission continues, with all glory to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!
In Christ’s love,
Harry
